Short introduction to different forms of Meditation
Meditation is known as inner yoga of the mind, whereas Physical posture (Asana) belongs to the category of outer yoga. Inner yoga or insight meditation refers to the subtle or more profound nature of yoga, as compared with the more general physical nature of outer yoga. Insight meditation originates from Buddhist teachings and is the most popular and researched form of meditation in the West.
Meditation has been used to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and addiction. During the meditation, you pay attention to your thoughts as they pass through your mind. You don’t judge the thoughts or become involved with them. You simply observe and take note of any patterns. This practice combines concentration with awareness. You may find it helpful to focus on an external object or even your breath while you observe any bodily sensations, thoughts, or feelings.
This is a short course to introduce the different types of meditation for beginners, who wish to learn about different meditation practices in a guided group environment. During this course, we will explore insight meditation as a skillful method to create internal and external well-being, and discuss the whole dimension of science and technology to create balance for daily life.
