Yoga Trigger Point 1 (10 hours)

An alternative self healing modality brought to focus by a combination of traditional Indian, Chinese, Thai and Japanese practices, you will learn to apply physical pressure to specific points in your body with the objective of releasing tension (blockages) and promoting energy flow throughout the body.

If you are interested in understanding and applying these techniques yourself, we currently offer our Yoga Trigger Point Course in 2 parts (please take note that both parts are compulsory modules in  Diploma in Yoga Therapy; credits gained can be used to offset)

  • Part I: focuses on overcoming neck, shoulder, back and knee pain.
  • Part II: focuses on overcoming chronic tension through the head, palms and feet which helps further the neck, shoulder, back and knee.

Many of us are familiar with feelings of pain and discomfort in our bodies but these areas of concerns are often overlooked and left as they are. When there are injuries, strains, stress and traumas to our muscles, one of the ways our bodies react is by contracting and shortening muscle fibers. This reaction is thought to protect us from further (possible) injuries. However, when this happens, our range of motion becomes compromised, flexilibility limited, resulting in more tension and pain in our bodies. Left uncared for, this then creates a neverending cycle of discomfort, pain and frustration.

The aim of our Yoga Trigger Point 1 Course is to create awareness around the energetic pathways in our bodies and its surrounding organs / meridians, directing your attention to areas of tension and stress in the body and providing you with the opportunity to tap into your body's natural healing power (innate healing mechanism) and consider the source of tension and pain in your body.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in self-healing, and looking to help others. Part 1 and Part II are part of Yoga Therapeutics.

Yogapoint Singapore also conducts regular trigger point classes for neck, shoulder and back pain, as well as one-to-one personal therapy / yoga wellness sessions, should you be interested in trying out.

    Carmen Teo:
“The techniques that John taught in the Trigger Point course was a culmination of his years of study on various ancient healing systems, synthesized in a way that is useful and understandable for our modern days’ needs. I enjoyed his dedication and wisdom to share his knowledge to others in a humble way and recommend anyone who is curious and motivated to care for one’s health, to try this course out.”

    Irene Ramli:
"Interesting, fun & enjoyable sessions was well-taught by teacher john. It was a useful knowledge to learn with some hands-on practice. The class size was just nice, each student was given enough attention from teacher. With his experience, teacher is able to explain, demo n attend to any question from students."

"These techniques must only be applied if they are understood well. The anatomy is explained during the course but since this is a crash course, I would think for those who are keen like me to keep your knowledge open. You will experience this as a whole not just knowing the points and how we can help ourselves and others in some way.  I am looking forward to attend the second part and to gain more knowledge on the head part and more. "
